Dart Harbour Drying Out / Scrubbing Grids
Advice to Dartmouth Yacht Club Members wishing to use the grid facility.
Dart Harbour has two drying out / scrubbing grids.
1. EMBANKMENT
This grid is owned by South Hams District Council but operated on their behalf by Dart Harbour and Navigation Authority. It has running water available from a tap on the embankment but no electric power.
2. HOODOWN (Kingswear shore just south of the main DHNA building)
This is owned and operated by DHNA. It has both power and water available.
There is a charge for the use of the grids (£40.00 approx. per 24 hour period) depending on the length of the boat.
Nicko Franks is the DYC Committee Member responsible for providing more information on the grids to DYC club members. His phone number is 07711 905597 and his email address is kandnfranks@gmail.com
It cannot be emphasised too strongly that all potential users of the grids MUST go into the DHNA office to complete a comprehensive grid booking form for whichever grid they wish to use. The potential user will then be given a full safety briefing before using the grid. This is essential as there was a near fatality 18 months ago on the Dartmouth grid after a boat was incorrectly secured alongside.
